HOME > ABOUT GLENN LOOPER
Glenn Looper, the President of LSI, is considered by many to be a "founding father" of Rockville. He may not be a true founding father of Rockville as he is not old enough. However, he truly is considered to be a pillar of the community and is also truly a founding father of the modern Rockville. Among the many things he has done for the city include that he was on the board of directors and served as President of the Rockville Chamber of Commerce He has remained a member of the Rockville Chamber of Commerce. More recently he has been one of a panel of twelve who have rewritten the zoning laws for the city on the ROZOR committee.
Glenn, who is married to Karin, has three grown daughters and one grown son. They also have six wonderful grandchildren. Glenn was born in a house on West Montgomery Avenue (Rte. 28) in Rockville. He has lived in Rockville for nearly his entire life (with the exception of the five years he was in the Air Force stationed at Westover Air Base in Springfield, Massachusetts).
Glenn worked part-time for Looper Brothers beginning at age 14 while he attended Richard Montgomery High School. After graduating from high school in 1959 he enlisted in the Air Force. In the Air Force he became a jet engine technician/mechanic.
When he left the Air Force in June, 1964, he moved back to Rockville and returned to his true passion, working at Looper Brothers as a mechanic. At that time he also trained part-time at the General Motors Training Center in Fairfax, Virginia on various aspects of automotive repair.
As part of the process of modernizing the business, during the early 1980s Glenn stopped working as a mechanic because as he frequently says, "I learned that you cannot run a business with your head under the hood of a car." During the 1980s he also studied various aspects of business management at Montgomery College's Rockville campus.
Over the years that he has owned Looper Servicenter, Glenn has been involved in innumerable projects in the community. Some of this involvement has included: - Helping to draft automotive legislation for Montgomery County Consumer affairs.
- Serving two terms as a member of the Montgomery County Consumer Affairs Advisory Board.
- Serving as a member of the City of Rockville Economic Development Committee.
- Serving as a member of the Chrysler Arbitration Board.
- And many, many other activities.
As President of Looper Servicenter, Inc., Glenn is constantly striving to keep the business on the cutting edge of technology as well as working hard to provide excellent customer service to all who patronize the business.
